Board of Directors Meeting Minutes ACBL Unit 503

Call to Order

David Merenbach, President of the Board, served as Chair of the meeting, called the meeting to order at 4:15PM and announced that a quorum of the Board members was present and that the meeting, having duly convened, was ready to proceed with business.

Approval of Meeting Minutes

Eli W. announced that the minutes of the July 19, 2023 Board Meeting were approved via email.

Celebrity Lecture Series

David M. announced that the next Celebrity Lecture will be a two-part series by Adam Parrish on September 23 and 30.

Finance Update

David M. for Marc C. discussed our financials. There was Net Operating Income in July and for the Year to Date, largely driven by the successful July Firecracker Tournament.  There was also positive Cash Flow for both July and YTD.

Special Events Update

David M. gave an update on future special events.

The Swiss Practice Game to be held August 18 has 10 tables registered to date.

Future events include the Halloween Party October 31, and the winter Holiday Party. Both events need volunteers to chair the events.

2024 ACBL Goodwill Member of the Year

Eli W. led a discussion about a request from the ACBL for nominees for the 2024 Goodwill Member of the Year to be presented at the Spring NABC.  Several names were discussed, and will be followed up on.

Registration System Update

John S. followed up on the discussion from the last meeting that District 21 has a reservation system we can use for a reasonable price.  John and our other Directors examined this system, and believe that our current system, which was designed specifically for bridge games, is a better system for our needs at this time.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:05PM.
