Highlights:

It’s been an eventful month!

Congrats! On November 1, Palo Alto Bridge members, Bill Chow and Ron Morris, won the 0-99er section game at the San Mateo Unit 498 sectional held at Palo Alto Bridge Center.

On November 11, we held our annual Palo Alto Unit 503 Membership meeting.  Attached are slides from the presentation we made at the meeting.  There is a good summary of the many achievements made to date – we are especially thankful for all our hardworking volunteers – and our financial challenges.  Youcan also help support our bridge community.

56 players – we had a great turnout for our first Pro-Am Swiss Teams event on November 13 at Palo Alto Bridge Center.  Check out the photos on our Facebook page of the 14 teams having fun!

Award-winning teacher, Phil Abrahamson, gave a great lecture on Swiss teams before the game.  Thank-you especially to our 28 Pro players for coming to play and help our less experienced players improve their game.  We also thank PBEF for funding this educational event.

Thank-you also to Will Watson for running and directing the game so that we can have hand records!

Thank-you to our volunteers for organizing this: H Paul Davis, Phil Abrahamson, Liz Koh, Dana Shelley, Marc Cervellino.

76 players attended Josephine Ventura’s memorial game on November 15 at Palo Alto Bridge Center.  Josephine’s family was in attendance and bridge players also shared their stories of Josephine.  Huge thank-you to director Paul Davis, Debbie Carey, Stephanie Youngquist, Eileen Digiorgio, Kathy Zmay, Lucy Ballard, for organizing the game and lunch.

Hope you enjoyed yourselves at the NABC in SF!  For some, this could be your first nationals, which is very exciting.

Sharing a team’s story at the NABC: David Merenbach had an incredibly brilliant and creative gift for his fellow Palo Alto Bridge teammates Marc Cervellino, Dianne Giancarlo and Liz Koh: individually named team shirts with “Koh Conspirators” at the back!

Also pictured in one of the photos is Debbie Rosenberg who gave advice to the team.

They made the “Fashion News” in one of the NABC’s Daily Bulletin (page 9) – the Palo Alto Bridge Fashionistas… SF NABC Daily Bulletin 9

A new year is coming!  A new goal?  Get involved in your community!  Our events and activities are put together by our volunteers, and we want your help.  Any little of your time would be appreciated!  We need volunteers for marketing and publicity (photo-takers, storytellers, email blaster) and help organize a bridge tournament.  Please let me know.

Newer Players: we have newcomer/0-49 masterpoint games at the Bridge Center on Tuesdays at 10:45AM and Wednesday evenings at 6:45PM.  Gain experience and improve your game in a relaxed environment.  SignUp
