Peninsula Bridge Education Foundation

The Peninsula Bridge Education Foundation is a nonprofit public benefit corporation which promotes the mental, social and health benefits of learning and playing bridge to people of all ages and skill levels in the areas represented by and adjacent to ACBL Unit 503.

The foundation promotes all knowledge, skill, strategy, and ethical aspects of the game through classes, seminars with world class educators, tutorials, a lending library, learning stations and resources, and use of technology. It also works to provide the continued availability of venues and clubs for learning and playing the game, such as newcomer games (clubs) and a Bridge Center.

The foundation may provide scholarships, stipends, or prizes for participation in courses and competitions. lt will seek opportunities to cooperate and coordinate with similar efforts by other bridge and education organizations in neighboring areas.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation.

Examples of activities we can fund under this program are:

  • Continuing Education.  By providing world class guest speaker series and ongoing bridge seminars and tutorials our members will enjoy continued improvement in their games. By establishing a reference library of books and software/computer for self study, our members will enjoy improvement in their games at their leisure.
  • Promoting Bridge to newer players.  By providing education opportunities and games for newer players.
  • Technology that enhances our education programs. By investing in modern technology that supports our educational goals.
  • Support to other education programs. By supporting organizations such as Silicon Valley Youth Bridge which offers free after school bridge classes, clubs, events, and other opportunities for youth to play bridge and improve their skills.

History

In 2007 our Unit established our Education Fund. Thanks to the generosity of our members and friends, funds were readily donated to initiate the fund. Since then many have made donations to continue the Tuesday Morning Lecture Series (75 lectures), purchase books, pamphlets, etc. for our very active Library (700 + volumes), and other educational activities.

In 2016 we established a non-profit foundation named the Peninsula Bridge Education Foundation. That means your donations are now tax-deductible as they were when we first established the fund.

We would like your help to perpetuate the Fund through your continued generosity. A donation, whatever size, will do just that!
