We are saddened to report that Duane Coleman passed away on June 1, 2018. Many knew him as the husband of long-time player and club owner Claire Coleman. What many of you do not know is the role he played securing and maintaining our bridge centers.
When we moved to our Terminal Boulevard location Duane coordinated the architectual work and construction necessary to allow us to configure the building for our use. He also maintained our facility the entire time we were there including recovery after our Bridge Center was flooded. If it was broken, he fixed it.
Duane also helped evaluate new locations as we planned to leave Terminal Blvd. After selecting our current location, Duane was instrumental as the interface between us, our landlord (the IFES) and the contractors who built out our facility from an empty shell. If you’ve noticed we have twice the number of overhead lights than usual, that (and many more things) was Duane’s work to create a better environment for us. We don’t know what we would have done without him.
Duane was a friend of the Unit and a personal friend to many of us in the Unit. He will be missed.
