Our Celebrity Bridge Seminars, and possibly other activities, are presented using Zoom.  To control interruptions presenters may disable speech for all attendees and require attendees to use Chat to ask or answer questions.  Here are the instructions for using Chat in a Zoom session:

On Desktop (Mac or Windows)

Open the Chat window:

  • Move your mouse to the bottom of the Zoom window to display the toolbar.
  • Select Chat in the menu.  If you do not see it, select More and then Chat.

Select who the message will go to:

  • Select Everyone, a specific person or hit the New Chat button to select another person.  Everyone is the default.

Type your message

  • Type your message in the Chat box and hit Enter.
  • Before sending you can click on the icons in the chat bar to format your text, add emojis, or send a file.

On Mobile (iOS /Android)

Open the menu:

  • Tap your screen while in a meeting to bring up the control panel, then tap More and select Chat.
  • Alternatively, tap Participants and click Chat at the bottom of the list.

Select who the message will go to:

  • Tap the Send to: drop-down menu and choose whether you want to message Everyone or a specific person privately.

While Screen Sharing

  • Hover your mouse near the top or bottom of your screen to reveal the floating meeting controls.
  • Click More (often represented by three dots).
  • Select Chat to open a floating chat window so you can stay engaged while sharing your screen.
