February 2026 marks the 25th anniversary since our website was created.

In February 2001 Alan Templeton created our first website on his home computer using a simple website software package. Over the years the software improved as well as Alan’s programming skills which allowed a more sophisticated website. The biggest functional upgrade was automating the Game Results page – the single most viewed page on our site.  Another was the addition of bridge center payment forms which had been done previously with paper and pencil  and prone to errors.  In December 2017 we hired an Indian website company to convert the website to WordPress, the most commonly used website system in the world. This improved maintenance and security and provided online source and backup rather than being on Alan’s computer.

More:

  • Alan created almost all of our website content and still maintains it today.
  • San Jose Unit 507 provided the basic software for our Game Results page which Alan modified for our use. It has since been shared with other Units.
  • Stanford University students wrote our Winners’ Circle page which shows the top scorers at our games and highlights games over 70% (Go to Games > Results and click Winners’ Circle)
  • Jody Williams led the conversion of our website to WordPress.
  • As of February 2026 our website has been visited over 2.9 million times.

    Some statistics from last year:

    • The Game Results page was visited 72 thousand times. The next most popular page was our game Reservations page which was visited 56 thousand times .
    • Visitors were most often from the United States (2.8 million times), Canada (176 thousand times) and Russian Federation (75 thousand times). Russian Federation?  This statistic includes robots which are scanning the internet for their own purposes.

And some really trivial statistics from last year:

    • Visitors most often used Windows (55%), MacOS (12%), iOS (6%) and Android (2%).
    • Visitors most often used Google Chrome (49%), Firefox (18%) and Safari(12%).

    Happy Anniversary
