Board of Directors Meeting Minutes ACBL Unit 503

Call to Order

David Merenbach, President of the Board, served as Chair of the meeting, called the meeting to order at 4:00PM and announced that a quorum of the Board members was present and that the meeting, having duly convened, was ready to proceed with business.

Approval of Meeting Minutes

Eli W. announced that the minutes of the September 12, 2022 Board Meeting were approved via email.

Financial Update

Marc C. presented an update on our Finances.  Play, both online and F2F, has recently been trending down for our PABC clubs. There was a Net Operating Loss, and negative Cashflow, for the month of September and YTD, both reduced by a grant from PBEF. 

October and November Sectionals

Marc C. led a discussion about upcoming Unit 503 Sectionals scheduled for October 14-16 and November 4-6.  Marc is chairing the October tournament, and Marc and Stephanie Y. are co-chairing the November event.  Silicon Valley Unit 507 will be holding a sectional for their Unit at our club on October 29-30. Preliminary plans for 2023 include a proposed San Mateo Unit 498 Sectional at our Club February 25-26; a Unit 503 Sectional in March/April; the Unit 503 Firecracker Sectional in July; and one or two Sectionals in the fall.

Holiday Party

Stephanie Y. led a discussion regarding our in-person Holiday Party at the end of the year.  The party will be held Sunday December 11 at 1:00PM. It will be open to members of Units 507 and 498 as well as our members. It was proposed to provide a budget of up to $500 for drinks and food. M/S/P.

Unit Board Election

Dan T. announced that there will be four incumbent Board members running for election for the four seat vacancies for next year. The nominees are David Merenbach, Jon Rayden, John Schwartz, and Stephanie Youngquist. A discussion was also held regarding adding an additional member to the Board of Directors.

Good Will Award

David M. announced that (deleted) will be our nominee for this District Award.

499’er Single Event

A special 499’er event will be held on October 31, 2022.
