Board of Directors Meeting Minutes ACBL Unit 503

Call to Order
David Merenbach, President of the Board, served as Chair of the meeting, called the meeting to order at 4:01PM and announced that a quorum of the Board members was present and that the meeting, having duly convened, was ready to proceed with business.
Approval of Meeting Minutes
Eli W. announced that the minutes of the May 9, 2022 Board Meeting were approved via email.
Celebrity Lecture Series
Kathy Wheeler reported on the status of the recent Celebrity Lecture held June 11 (Donna Compton).

Kathy W. to send out an announcement mailer at end of July
Firecracker Sectional Update
Gerry M. presented an update on the status of the Firecracker Sectional to be held in July.
All participants required to provide vax status, and armbands will be used to show compliance
Parking all set up and under control
Need a volunteer to sell Lunch Tickets, If IFES does not provide this service, from 9-10am each day
Need a volunteer to coordinate set up and tear down
It was agreed that Club Owners should run their regular online games during the tournament
Dianne G. to investigate an evening event (ex: food truck) for one night
Financial Update
Marc C. presented an update on our Finances. There was a Net Operating loss and negative Cashflow for both May and the first five months of the year. These results are better than the budgeted plan to date.
IFES Update
Marc Cervellino, John Schwartz and Alan Templeton met with IFES. IFES agreed to our use of their hall for the Firecracker.
Kathy Harper Fall Class Schedule
It was agreed to continue the current schedule for the Fall class series.
Unit 503 Membership Project
Marc C. and Dianne G. reported on the status of their efforts to examine and understand why players have dropped their membership during the pandemic. An email was sent to those who dropped out over the last two years, and approximately 15% of those rejoined the Unit after receiving these emails.
Dave M. to draft an email to District 21 members with 0-20 Masterpoints promoting the Firecracker
The board agreed to review the existing New Member Welcome Letter
Club owners to investigate the feasibility of restarting low Masterpoint games
The meeting was adjourned at 5:17PM.
