Students

Do you like to play games or solve puzzles? Would you like to learn a challenging new game? Would you like to meet others who like the same things?

Do your parents or grandparents play bridge? Have you ever thought it would be nice to know how to play with them?

Have you taken some bridge lessons? Have you wished you could learn faster or play more?

Are you entering 5th through 12th grade this Fall?

If you answered yes to any of these, Silicon Valley Youth Bridge has a great Summer Camp for you!

If you are new to bridge, teachers will help you get started playing the best card game ever. If you know how to play, an intensive “training camp” will help you advance rapidly. The camp will give you lots of practice with old and new friends, and the chance to ask lots of questions.

Bridge Testimonials

"Bridge is one of the last games in which the computer is not better." – Bill Gates

"It's got to be the best intellectual exercise out there. You're seeing through new situations every ten minutes." - Warren Buffet

“The skills I developed through bridge, specifically my organization, communication and logical reasoning skills, will help me succeed at Stanford.” - Ryan Wessels, Junior Bridge champion and SiVY Bridge volunteer teacher at Levin Boys & Girls Club in San Jose (Dec. 2013). Excerpted from his essay which helped Ryan gain admission to Stanford Law School.

Parents

Are you constantly looking for fun ways to expand your children or teenagers’ horizons? Do your youngsters sometimes become restless in the summer because many of their friends are away or busy with day camp or sports activities? Silicon Valley Youth Bridge Camp may be the solution you need!

What will they learn?

Students new to bridge will learn the basics of bridge bidding and card play. For those with some experience, such as attendance at SiVY events, classes, or last year’s Summer Camp, Camp will start where they left off, with each skill level assigned to a similarly skilled group.

After attending camp students will be able to continue their learning at other SiVY events or by taking classes offered through the Palo Alto Bridge Club.

What are the benefits?

Bridge helps students strengthen their basic math and logic skills while they have fun. It gives them a chance to make new friends while they are learning about the importance of teamwork. The camp will let them learn from each other, as well as from experienced teachers and mentors, without the pressure associated with academic requirements.
