American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) - The American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) is the governing body for contract bridge in the United States, Mexico, Bermuda and Canada and is a member of the World Bridge Federation. Their webste allows users to track their Masterpoints, provides information about local clubs,teachers, tournaments, etc.
ACBL District 21 - the local governing body of the ACBL serving Northern California and Nevada. Provides information on and results of local tournaments, links to Units within the district, etc.

The Bridge World - The Bridge World Magazine was founded in 1929 by Eli Culbertson. While the content of the monthly magazine is superb, it is intended for advanced players. Consider a subscription if/when you are ready for advanced material. In the meantime, the website offers a wealth of free bridge instruction, and an excellent bookstore.
Bridge With Larry Cohen - This website offers numerous free articles by one of the world's most prominent and entertaining bridge teachers.
Center for Bridge Education - CBE introduces students, seniors, and others to the game of bridge to promote inductive and deductive mental skills, memory enhancement, cooperative and competitive partnership, and social skills. Based in San Francisco.

Game of Tricks - A kinder, gentler version of "War".
Knock Out Whist - A simple trick taking game more sophisticated than the Game of Tricks. It uses trump, and involves some strategy, yet is still suitable for fairly young kids (ages 5-12). Any number from 2-7 can play. It seems to be played mostly in Britain, and is often called by the alternative name Trumps.
MiniBridge - A simplified form of Contract Bridge designed to expose newcomers to declarer and defensive playing techniques without the burden of learning a detailed bidding system.
Whist - A classic English trick-taking card game which was the basis for the development of bridge.

Palo Alto Unit 503 - Offers games for all levels of players including intermediate / newcomer games specifically for new and returning players with limited masterpoints. Also offers a comprehensive education program including classes, free lectures, learning game (lesson and mentored bid/play), and mentoring.
San Jose Unit 507 - Two duplicate games a day except for one on Sundays. Four games offer separate beginner sections. Supervised play sessions Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3 p.m.
Stanford Bridge Club - The Stanford Bridge Club exists to introduce new players to the game and support the game on campus and in the community. Our weekly games are informal and open to beginners and experts alike.
