Summer Camp 2015 - Week 2

In the second session, 16 returning campers were joined by 18 new faces for another week of learning and fun. None of the campers in this session was a complete beginner, and the level of instruction was accordingly more advanced. Frank Smoot joined the team of lead teachers, to provide even more individual attention to each camper.

During breaks from intensive instruction, campers once again participated in bridge-related games. In the flyswatter game, campers scored points by being the first to identify bridge-related terms when the definitions were read. In the bean bag game, campers earned points for landing on large cards totaling the largest number of high card points.

The last day of camp once again featured a raffle. Lucky winners received prizes that included bridge books, some of them autographed by Larry Cohen.

Session Two also concluded with a pizza party and a duplicate tournament. The field was once again divided into "strata" based on pre-camp experience levels, and trophies were awarded for both first and second place in Strat A and Strat B. Additional trophies were awarded for the best scores among the campers who had started Session One with little or no experience. At the end of the event, campers chatted excitedly about their results on the boards, just as experienced players do (though perhaps a bit more loudly).
