SUMMARY:Play Like A Pro
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text] \n\n\n\n\nDebbie Rosenberg\n(408) 320-4473\nSend Email \n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]This Intermediate/Advanced -Advanced level course covers the areas of defense where Debbie believes competitive players can make the biggest improvement in their results. While no pro gets every problem right\, there are many problems that every pro would get right. Start nailing those\, and stop making declarer’s life easy. \nLectures\, if any\, are short. There is lots of practice\, and much discussion of how to defend like an expert bridge player. Instructional notes\, as well as copies of the deals played in class\, with analysis\, will be emailed (hard copy on request). \nAll of the lesson materials assume “Standard” carding and opening leads. In most cases you will be able to practice your own signaling methods if you attend with a regular partner but you will be required to make standard leads. Signaling discussions will focus on how a particular situation should be defined (count\, attitude\, or suit preference)\, rather than which method is best. \nWhile it is ideal to attend this course with a partner\, it is not required. \nClass size will be limited to 10 tables. Pre-registration is required. Once you are registered\, you will be emailed several sets of notes for reference. These will cover “Standard” leads and signals\, as well as other basic concepts that intermediate+ players should be familiar with. \nClasses include coffee and cookies\, only. Bring any additional snacks you desire. \nThe course instructor is Debbie Rosenberg who is an ACBL Grand Master\, six-time NABC winner and three-time World Champion with 25 years of teaching experience. \nThe course will be held at our Bridge Center. \nFor more information contact Debbie Rosenberg email (preferred) (408) 320-4473. \n\n\n\n\nDefend Like A Pro\nThursday Afternoons\n4:15 PM to 6:30 PM\n\n\n\n\nCounting Points & Distribution\nOctober 2\, 2014\n\n\nCounting Declarer’s Tricks\nOctober 9\n\n\nDiscarding\nOctober 16\n\n\nCount & Suit Preference Signals in Action\nOctober 23\n\n\nSecond Hand Play\nOctober 30\n\n\nThird Hand Play\nNovember 6\n\n\nWhen to Switch Suits and to What Card\nNovember 13\n\n\nDrawing Inferences\nNovember 20\n\n\nPossible makeup date in case of schedule change\nDecember 11\n\n\nLessons are not offered on a per-session basis. This Advanced level course deals with a variety of elements of card play in both Notrump and suit contracts. While the main focus of each lesson is declarer play\, many aspects of bidding and defense is also discussed. This course assumes you are already well-versed in the basics (counting winners in NT\, losers in suit contracts\, etc.). \nLectures\, if any\, are short. There is lots of practice\, and much discussion of how to think like an expert bridge player. Instructional notes\, as well as copies of the deals played in class\, with analysis\, are emailed after each lesson. Printed copies are available upon request. \nIt is not necessary to attend with a partner. Please do not send a substitute if you will be missing a class\, as there will be helpers on hand to fill in if needed. This is the only location and time when this course is being offered\, so unfortunately there are no makeups available. \nThis is the same Advanced level course which received rave reviews in both spring and fall of 2012. \nFor more information contact Debbie Rosenberg email (preferred) (408) 320-4473. \n\n\n\n\n\nPlay Like A Pro\nTuesday Afternoons\n4 PM to 6:15 PM\n\n\n\n\n\nHow to choose the “master hand” when playing a suit contract\, and then plan accordingly.\nOctober 1\, 2013\n\n\n\nSuit establishment in trump contracts – make the most of your long suits.\nOctober 8\n\n\n\nPercentage plays & combining your chances (otherwise known as “decisions\, decisions”).\nOctober 15\n\n\n\nTrick one in notrump – play the right card from dummy!\nOctober 22\n\n\n\nHold up & avoidance plays in notrump – when\, how long\, etc?\nOctober 29\n\n\n\nHandling entries – learn how to be in the right place at the right time\, with both basic and advanced techniques.\nNovember 5\n\n\n\nCounting the opponents’ hands – use what you see and what you don’t see to put together the pieces of the puzzle.\nNovember 12\n\n\n\nStrip and endplays – lots of fun\, and not as complicated or obscure as you may think.\nNovember 19\n\n\n\nClass size will be limited to 10 tables. Pre-registration is required.\nPlease hold November 26 as a possible makeup date in case of necessary schedule change or cancellation.\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
